Best Halloween Ever?

Mario Manzanares has been a Bronco fan since the day he watched his first game. Since then he’s been rooting them to every game, playoffs, and Super Bowl. While also getting his favorite jerseys and planning to go to a live game. This Halloween brought him to tears of happiness when a generous stranger gave him a surprise while trick or’ treating that he didn’t expect.

Starting his Halloween night indecisively with costumes, he finally chose the easiest which was to be his favorite football player. Thinking that he didn’t dress up enough because he was in his normal football attire, he was a little upset. The night began, going house to house getting treats from people he’s never met. As usual, he was excited about the amount of candy but the candy became irrelevant when he came upon the last house.  

Originally the family was going to skip the house (being tired from walking the neighborhoods) until his sister started her way towards the house. They decided to stay behind till she said they had juice boxes, so all of them began to rush towards the front door. A woman answered the door giving candy and juices to each kid, but hesitated when little Mario got to the door. She called for her husband saying there was a Bronco player. He ran from the back of the house in excitement and looked him up and down. Beginning to ask him questions to see if he was a true fan, and to make sure he would never switch away from the team. Mario answered saying he was a huge fan and would never give them up. The man said he had been waiting for a Bronco fan all night. He came back with a Broncos helmet signed by the one and only John Elway, a picture of him signing it, and a sports magazine with the article from Elway’s best Super Bowl. Mario and his family were all shocked and couldn’t believe what had happened. Starting to cry with happiness, he thanked the stranger over and over. The stranger said thank you for being a fan. “I was so upset I didn’t dress up scary but now I’m so thankful I didn’t I can’t even believe it!!!” Mario said.

This act of kindness will stay with Mario for the rest of his life. Don’t underestimate your costumes next year- you never know what it can get you!
