A CATastrophe To Remember

May 14, 2018

Veronica Harvey, a resident of Fruita, was astonished when her cat of thirteen years was stolen right off of her front porch. Pica, who Harvey adopted as a kitten, is one of the only cats she owns who hadn’t previously worn a collar.

Harvey turned to social media to find her missing feline–and it payed off. The post she made about Pica was shared almost two hundred times, until finally a friend thought they might have known the culprit.

The initial person Harvey talked to denied having stolen the cat, although provided instructions to meet in Triangle Park. A different person ended up coming with Pica safe in their arms. “‘I’m really sorry, we thought he was a stray and we really want a cat,’” Harvey recalls them saying.

Harvey isn’t looking to press any charges; she’s just happy to have all of her cats home safe.
