Tiger King Review

Recently, there have been many posts on social media about the Netflix show “The Tiger King.” So what is “The Tiger King” and why is everyone so obsessed with it?

“The Tiger King” is a Netflix documentary series starring a man known as Joe Exotic, a zoo owner in Oklahoma who’s big draw is his 200 something big cats. Joe Exotic is as he describes himself, “the gay, gun-carrying, redneck with a mullet.” Joe Exotic made a name for himself primarily through an internet show, where most of his airtime was spent complaining about a woman named Carol Baskin.

Carol Baskin is the owner of Big Cat Rescue, a nonprofit that takes cats out of zoos and abusive situations and brings them to her facility. She wants to take down Joe because he is breeding tigers and making money through “cub petting” and activity in which tourists can pay to pet and play with baby tigers and lions. Joe and Carol are extreme enemies and will go to basically any lengths to get at each other.

Basically, the show follows Joe, Carol, and a few other members of the big cat world. What is so entertaining about this series is that it is full of the absolute craziest people you will ever see. It’s hard to believe that half of the things shown are even real. It’s pretty much just fun to watch the insanity unfold.

Watching “The Tiger King” is like watching a car wreck, hard to watch but you can’t look away. So whether you’re team Joe or team Carol, it is guaranteed to entertain you one way or another.
