New Year, New You
January 22, 2018
The new year is here and already looking promising! Online, many tweeters and instagrammers (is that what they’re called?) have deemed 2018 as “the year of self care and falling in love, either with someone else or with yourself.” But here at Fruita Monument, many students have their own ideas of what this year will bring them.
Sophia Mayer, a junior at FMHS, says that her resolution is “probably to be more organized and write in my planner more often.” We could all really use a little more organization in our lives after the mess that was 2017. Maybe it was the best year of your life, but from the gossip chattering around, it seems like that wasn’t the case for most.
Something that should be in everyone’s interests this year is the idea of self care, self love, and acceptance of who you are. Last year was filled with tips and ques about loving yourself, but not many people seemed to take it seriously. 2018 needs to be the year where depression and suicide rates finally decrease and society begins to accept people for who they are.
Get rid of that one toxic friend, flaunt your flaws, and be yourself! No one should be able to tell you what you should be or who you are, and we as a people need to stand up for what we believe in. Acceptance is key for 2018, and hatred/negativity should be shunned. Let’s make 2018 look superior to 2017!
