Thor: Ragnarok Review

The newest addition the Marvel film family, “Thor: Ragnarok”, is the newest Marvel superhero movie, released on November 3rd and is captivating audiences with its humor as well in it’s action scenes. It’s the 3rd installment in the Thor storyline. Thor had the 7th best opening weekend in the United States for Marvel movies.
Thor brought a comedic aspect to the movie, the use of comedy is a new and recurring theme in the Marvel Universe, as the films are trying to appeal to all audiences. This is the third Marvel Movie to be released this year, along with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spiderman: Homecoming. Although the use of comedy is extremely prevalent within this movie, that didn’t seem to take away from the action. While cracking jokes about previous films, but also teasing between the characters is really what made this movie so comedic. Don’t sleep on the action however, the film had its fair share of intense and badass moments!
Bringing new characters in and trying new, unique things also aided in the success of this movie. Making a guest appearance, the director, Taika Waititi, played a warrior named Korg..The new characters, specifically the new villain Hela, played by Cate Blanchett, brought the supernatural and celestial beings further into the Marvel universe. Hela, a character based off the Norse goddess of death, Hel, is the main villain in the new story. Following the main story however, Ragnarok, is the destruction of Thor’s homeworld, Asgard. Thor crosses the galaxy in attempt to stop the this prophesied event. Meeting new obstacles on the way, Thor gains new allies as well as new enemies.
Thor: Ragnarok showed its success in the box office. Thor brought in $121 million domestically and $427 million worldwide. As November 16th, 2017 however, the box office for it is sitting at $660,285, 111 million. Thor has received a 92% from Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.2/10 from IMDB. Thor has also received a 94% from google users, further showing its success. Thor has not only managed to superhero geeks, but also high school students who are looking for a good laugh!
