Roll Tide…Again!

January 24, 2018

2018’s NCAA National Championship was definitely one for the books. Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia was shrouded in a sea of red and white. With both teams, the Georgia Bulldogs led by head coach Kirby Smart and Alabama Roll Tide led by Nick Saban. Leading one of the best college franchises of NCAA is head coach Nick Saban. The difference in coaching staff is extremely large. Kirby Smart served as Nick Saban’s head coach, until the head coach position was offered by Georgia in 2015. For his first two seasons as Georgia’s head coach, he has a record of 21-6 and he’s 2-0 while playing in the college bowl games games.

Nick Saban however, has a much more impressive resume. Taking over Alabama as head coach in 2007, Saban’s record has come out to be 127-20. Saban has won a total of 6 national titles during his college coaching career.

The two teams met Monday January 8th, 2018. Georgia dominated first half and appeared to be the obvious victors, until Alabama’s freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa took over for starting quarterback Jalen Hurts. Tua led a 13 point comeback and beat Georgia with a 41-yard touchdown throw in overtime. This was the second playoff game that went into overtime. The first one, Georgia and Oklahoma was followed by the National Championship game. A wild finish to the NCAA football season, but an unforgettable one for sure!
