Colin Kaepernick To Be The Face Of The New Nike Ad Campaign

Colin Kaepernick has sparked major controversy since 2016 when he began kneeling during the national anthem as a protest of violence against African-Americans, specifically police brutality. His protest got many athletes involved in support as others began kneeling and linking arms.

His protest has caught other athletes’ and even Trump’s eye, but in disapproval. Trump has called players who kneel during the anthem disrespectful among other things.

Kaepernick has not played in a NFL game since last year, however, he has remained in contract with Nike . Nike has made him the new face of their new campaign for their ‘Just Do It’  30th anniversary. He is featured with the caption “Believe in something, even if it means losing everything.”

Many celebrities have expressed their support for both Nike and Kaepernick. This includes tennis star, Serena Williams, who tweeted “Especially proud to be a part of the Nike family today.”.

The campaign has also received lots of backlash from people who have expressed their disapproval for Nike. Some people are boycotting the company and #Justburnit” is trending on social media  “ which features people burning clothing by Nike.
