February 25, 2019
The Women’s March was a worldwide protest that took place on January 19th, 2019. Thousands gathered together in Downtown Grand Junction to show support for women’s, and civil rights for everyone nationwide. What began in Washington two years ago turned into a national campaign. To show support marchers came out with signs, t-shirts, and civil rights slogans. One of the main missions that The Women’s March organization focus on is harnessing power of diverse women and various communities to create a change for society. Women of all ages came to the march, some even brought their young daughters, and grandchildren to support the movement.
March participant, Candy Sims stated “I want to make sure that my granddaughters have a fair opportunity to get ahead in this world.”
Luke Anderson a sophomore here at Fruita Monument even took part in the march himself and stated “I really appreciate her ability to go out and think for herself, and then spread some of that knowledge to me and let me think for myself as well.”
