The student body gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting at FMHS’s commons area

January 22, 2020

This morning was cold, in the thirties, yet the weather could not hinder the excitement in the air. The glittery snowflakes were falling down and students, as well as, faculty were eager to get inside to warm up. A special group of D51 staff, the FMHS construction crew, and our very own passionately spoke in celebration of our new commons area.

Principal, Todd McClaskey, and student body president, Tiffany Crews, showed great gratitude for the taxpayers and their commitment to FMHS students’ success. Senior class president, Derek van Why, spoke of the current generation and the generations to come that will benefit from the new, multifunctional space; such as, a central area for all offices in order for easier navigation, a roundabout for more efficient pick up and drop off, and an open commons area with natural lighting with an ample amount of seating to motivate group discussions and homework groups.
