The 2020 tip challenge has inspired people to spread love during the new year by doing random acts of kindness. When a server in Michigan who was struggling financially, received a tip for $2020, it changed her life, all because of a simple act of kindness. This server, Danielle Franzoni, was overwhelmed by the magnitude of this gift, and spread the challenge forward by tipping $20.20 on her next dinner bill. As this story gained recognition, celebrities began to join in on the challenge such as former “New Kids on the Block” crooner Donnie Wahlberg, who gave a $2020 to his IHOP waitress. Using social media, this challenge gained momentum and people became more inspired to do complete their own interpretations of the challenge themselves. Whether you’re tipping $2020, $20.20, or maybe spending 20 hours volunteering, these random acts of kindness are making a difference in the community.

According to CNN, radio host Lisa Foxx says, “It shouldn’t cost anything to have a positive impact on someone’s life.” The best way to spread kindness and love is to put these acts of kindness out into the world, and to get other people inspired as well. The new year has inspired many to participate in this challenge, and you can do any sort of selfless action to participate. Anything you can do to have a positive impact on the world, the community, or even just one other person can have a huge impact. A single kind action can change a person’s life. There are countless opportunities every day to make a positive impact on the surrounding world, and this story can inspire us to take a moment to do something nice for someone else. Paying kindness forward can not only make the people receiving the action happy, but it will bring you happiness as well. Kind actions DO make an impact, no matter how small.
