Cheap Dinners that Keep You Full

     In a time of financial insecurity and anxiety it can be hard to find cheap meals to feed your family. Especially meals that keep you full and are nutritious. So here’s two meals that are cheap and can help you stay full for longer.

5-Ingredient Chicken Alfredo Bubble-Up Bake  

  • Prep: 10 minutes 
  • Total: 50 minutes
  • Serving: 8

Ingredients (prices may vary)

  • 2 cups coarsely chopped deli rotisserie chicken ($4.50)
  • 2 cups chopped fresh baby spinach ($1.98)
  • 1 jar (15 oz) Alfredo pasta sauce ($2.38) 
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz) ($2.22) 
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Southern Homestyle refrigerated Buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits) ($1.88) 

Total cost: $12.96 (prices came from Walmart and may vary) 

Per serving: $1.62

Steps

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13×9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix chicken, spinach, Alfredo sauce and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Separate dough into 8 biscuits; cut each into 6 pieces. Add to bowl; gently stir.
  3. Spoon mixture into baking dish; top with remaining 1 cup cheese.
  4. Bake 36 to 40 minutes or until deep golden brown and biscuits are cooked through.

 

Easy Tater Tot Hotdish

  • Prep: 10 minute 
  • Total: 1 hour and 10 minutes 
  • Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef SAVE $
  • 1 bag tater tots
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can green beans, drained
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Brown beef, drain.
  3. Mix browned beef, salt, pepper, soup and green beans. Pour in the casserole.
  4. Place tater tots on top of beef mixture. Then top off with cheddar cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.
