Covid-19 has a tremendous effect on the whole world. With a mix of good and bad, the virus has taken everyone by surprise. The main way that coronavirus is spread is through the air. With over 328.2 million people in the U.S,. the virus can be spread very fast through large gatherings. This includes graduations, festivals, parties and concerts. One of the first acts to control the spread was to limit the gatherings to 10 people. This obviously cancelled or postponed many future events, including Ccoachella, comic-con, the Ssummer Olympics, and many singer’s tours. These changes made everyone be creative on how they are going to hold some of these events that they absolutely cannot’t cancel. Moving to virtual was the next best thing and was all really anyone could do at this point. 

On Friday April 24th, singer Post Malone hosted a virtual concert for a tribute to the band Nirvana. Known for his many face tattoos, Post Malone didn’t let COVID stand in his way of what he loves doing the most. Not only was this a concert, the musician raised over 2.7 million dollars for the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. In the live concert he stated, “I’m here to play some songs for you and try our best to stay at home and still make some rock and roll and party hard.”

Even though it was a Post Malone concert, it was a tribute to Nirvana. So the artist along with three other social distance band members Travis Barker, Brian Lee, and Nick Mack played covers of songs from Nirvana. Some of the 15 songs played in the 80 min set include “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle”, “Drain You”,”Come as You Are”, “Lounge Act”, “Something in the Way”, “About a Girl”, “Stay Away” and “School”. 

Courtney Love, widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, congratulated the band for raising thousands of dollars to help with the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Post Malone isn’t the only one having a virtual concert. In fFact, there are dozens coming up in the month of May. iIncluding Miley Cryus playing her hit song “The Climb” on Ffacebook live on May 5th, Grayson Capps on the 13th, Henry Jamison on the 12th and many more. These celebs are giving a shine of hope to those struggling in this time of panic and listening to one of your favorite artists may bring a smile to your face.
