On Feb 24, 2022 Russian forces invaded Ukraine to take control. Ukraine’s desire to join NATO, the largest western military alliance, sparked Russia’s aggression, as they saw a neighboring country a part of NATO as a threat. This has caused quite the turmoil, as millions of Ukrainians have fled their country, and nearly two thousand soldiers have died trying to protect their country.

However, these soldiers are the only ones willing to risk their lives for the good of their country. Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has risen to the challenge and decided to join forces and fight alongside his people.

According to Zelensky, “Putin began a war against Ukraine, and the entire democratic war.”

Almost overnight, this man became a wartime leader. Despite his pleas to Russia about wanting peace, Russia furthered their invasion, making this war a much more dangerous reality for this president and his people. 

Nevertheless, the man has had little experience. Before his time as president, he was an actor and starred in many roles. But, his courage is not only admired by his people but by people all over the world. People all over social media have been praising this man for standing up for his people and for being the president Putin should have been.

Despite millions of his people fleeing the country, Zelensky has been determined to stay in the capital where he will remain for his people.
