Don’t like Cats? Think again! House Cat Stops Armed Robbery in Mississippi home!

Bella Kinnick, Reporter

On July 25, around 2:30, two armed men broke into Fred Everitt’s suburban home. This story would have had a much different report if it wasn’t for Fred’s furry family member saving the day. Dubbed “Bandit”, this twenty pound calico cat alerted her owner with loud meows from the kitchen. However, the real story kicks in after the crusading cat sprinted to her owner’s bedroom and clawed at Fred’s arms. She even went as far as pulling the comforter off his chest. According to Fred, “she had never done that before,” and because of this unusual action, Everitt knew something was terribly wrong. The duo got up to investigate, and by no surprise, two men were trying to break in with a crowbar and guns in their hands. By the time Everitt went back to his bedroom to call the police, the robbers had fled the scene. He reports that “the situation could have been different without Bandit,” and is extremely proud of his newly named “guard cat”. In other good news, Bandit was in fact adopted from the Tupelo-Lee-Humane Society, demonstrating how adopting is both beneficial to the pet and the owner!
