This past Tuesday in Grand Junction, a new zipline was unveiled at Las Colonias Park. Spanning more than 1,000 feet, the zipline starts at the Eagle Rim Park shelter. It lands at Butterfly Pond, a beautiful end to a fun ride in nature. The zipline itself was built by Bonsai Design, a company that has taken to helping design the area of Las Colonias Park in the hope that people will come to experience the river. The zipline costs $600,000 and was initially supposed to be completed in August 2021. The date was pushed back due to a groundwater issue, something somewhat typical for the area, which the engineers had to work around before continuing with the project. Now that it is finally open, there is more to celebrate than just the excitement of it. The attraction is fully accessible to those who are disabled, making it an experience that everyone can enjoy. The zipline’s current hours are Friday through Sunday from noon to 8:00 p.m., and it costs $21 for adults and $18 for anyone under 17 to ride it. This newest attraction is sure to bring in a lot of new interest in a spot that is already fairly popular for those in the valley.
