As a brand new school year rolls around , Fruita Monument gets the privilege of adding new additions to the staff. Audrey Hoffa is the newest College Career Advisor and her role in the school helps many students.
Hoffa was born and raised in Southeastern Pennsylvania, but she was always curious and adventurous about the world around her, and at the ripe age of 17 she left home and went to a Junior College in Utah and received her certification to become a flight attendant. a career she pursued for 13 years.
“ I went back to school when I was 30 for my Bachelors of Science degree, and I became a field biologist in Breckenridge, Colorado for a few years,” stated Hoffa.
She then went back to school at Boston University and received her masters degree and taught for thirteen years. As Hoffa still wanted to be with kids but not in a teaching position, she then became a College Career Advisor (CCA). “ I didn’t have a lot of direction in high school, but one person helped me with college applications, and if it wasn’t for them I’m not sure where I’d be,” stated Hoffa
Now Hoffa remains in Fruita where she enjoys her favorite hobbies like mountain biking, bike backpacking, walking her dogs and hanging out with her friends.
“I love the administration and teachers. They are very supportive of me, and the students are so kind, and kindness is underrated.”
Ms. Hoffa’s office is located in the library and is always available to help kids with college or career advice as the next stage of life is not far off for many FMHS students. Be sure to stop by and give her a warm welcome.
