Throughout history, there have been many designers with different views on how people should express themselves. Having all these views expelled into the world and having people make clothes and trinkets to share with others is something that helps unite the people of today. Wearing these unique clothes or a certain brand of clothes opens a door to a new community of people spreading their love for a niche style.
A very controversial but inspirational designer, Kanye West has changed the sneaker game within the past two decades. West has worked with multiple collaborations and signature shoes with different brands. His first shoe was designed with Nike being known as the “Yeezy 1” starting off a line of influential sneakers. The sneakers that were released with Nike have become a grail when it comes to sneakerheads due to the limited number of pairs and the age of the sneaker.
West only lasted a couple of years with Nike resulting in only 2 signature shoes stamped with the “Swoosh”. After this, West moved over to work with Adidas starting a line of shoes that will change the sneaker culture forever. The line of trainers West started is named Yeezy. Throughout the decade, West was with Adidas; they both came together to design and release multiple silhouettes with his inspiration from aliens and fungi for his sneakers.
Another Designer Virgil Abloh is one of the best designers of all time. Virgil Abloh started his own company “Off White”. This brand introduced abstract and crazy-looking pieces of clothing. He has his pieces of clothing including shirts, pullovers, sweatpants, shorts, and shoes. Throughout his career, he collaborated with Nike to make some of the most desirable silhouettes. He has designed many pairs with Nike having the Off-White Jordan 1 High Chicago being the rarest and most desirable when it comes to these collaborations. Another one of his collaborations with Nike is “The 50”. These were 50 different takes on the Nike Dunk silhouette having different materials and colors making each pair unique.
Without a doubt, Travis Scott has changed the sneaker game. Having his multiple takes on a couple of silhouettes has influenced many. Scott collaborates with Nike at this time. His sneakers are his take on original shoes that have been around but making them the way he wants. To identify one of his sneakers you just have to look out for the infamous backwards Swoosh. These sneakers are ones for the book with how popular they are amongst this new generation of sneakerheads. Sophomore at Fruita Daine Hancey says “I love shoes. They add so much to my outfits and allow me to express myself through shoes.”
These people have changed the sneaker world in a way others haven’t. The way these designers have made these shoes to be the way that they imagine them to be not only influences the sneaker world, but it helps people to dress the way they want to and lets them express themselves through sneakers. Be yourself.
