It was recently announced that Grand Junction would be getting an Amazon Distribution Center. The location is off of Saccomanno Road and will be 38,000 square feet.
According to KJCT “The facility is a ‘last-mile’ facility. Last-mile facilities handle the very last step of the delivery process, which often is your front door or mailbox. New jobs will be available, and many employees can expect to earn anywhere from $17-$28 an hour depending on the specific job they hold.” This will be an incredible addition to the city in terms of economics, but there are still some unknowns about the potential environmental impact the facility may have.
Traffic is also an issue that will need to be addressed as we can expect more delivery vehicles to be on the roads. Therefore, this will provide residents with increased opportunities for more jobs while providing consumers with their orders sooner.
