The Fruita Rec Center sectioned off an area of their indoor pool on Monday, March 11th, 2024 as they began construction for a new slide. Design plans show two large loops that shoot you out at the foot of the slide.
The first part of construction lasted through May, said the City of Fruita. The second phase begins in September. We’ve noticed that the first phase involved design plans and general mapping out of the area. This also included cutting the holes in the walls. Speculation says the second phase will involve putting in the slide and structural supports.
If you’re wondering where they’re going to fit these loops, stopping by the Rec Center will reveal the holes in the wall where construction has taken place. The City of Fruita’s official Facebook said the slide will be “an enclosed tube that will run outside of the Fruita Community Center building and end on the pool deck.”
If anyone has ever been to The Silo, you know how fun the trampolines and dodgeball are. The same contractor is working on the Rec Center: Dare-Case Contracting.
Based in Grand Junction, Chad Dare and Darrin Case own and operate the company. Their website shows they have worked on several projects in Fruita and around the valley. These projects include Jolley Smiles buildings, Fruita Canyon Dental, as well as Crested Oak and Visual Eyes Eye Care designs.
Given that they have done previous large build projects, we know our safety and fun are in their capable hands. As we wait for the build to be finished, the indoor and outdoor pools are open for everyone to play with friends and family!
