Our school is full of diversity, from our various sports teams like basketball, cheer, and even our marching band and colorguard, down to our clubs like FFA, FBLA, and FCCLA.
FFA (Future Farmers of America) has had quite an impact on Fruita in the last few years. They host events every second Tuesday of every month called chapter meetings where they talk about what they have planned for the month and important dates for the year, run the greenhouse which hosts a plant sale each year,, and routinely volunteer with other companies and organizations around Fruita and the valley. They are certainly well known in the community.
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is known for their achievements in everything business, and computer science related. Under the leadership of Kathleen Recker and Joe Pridy, they’ve had students go to state and national-level conferences almost every year. There are a variety of events that students can compete in, and there are always a large group of competitors each year.
FCCLA (Family, Community, and Career Leaders of America) is a club coming back to life. Under the previous leadership of Cheryl Tenant, and now the leadership of Kimberlee Weber, they’ve had a wonderful council of officers and members who have always strived to make a difference in our community. They do this by spending their personal time volunteering within organizations and spreading awareness about important topics in the education world.
This past year they have all had tremendous success, especially this summer. These clubs all had students participate in national-level competitions! The FBLA and FCCLA competitors both took home 8th place at the National Leadership Conferences. FBLA competed in Network Design and FCCLA competed in Promote and Publicize FCCLA.
FFA’s Ryer Roberts, a former FMHS student is now nominated for a national officer position and will be continuing the election process for the National President position. He will learn if he gets elected in October.
FBLA’s competitors, Jacob Cornelison and Audy Sanders placed 2nd at states, which then led them to be qualified for nationals. FCCLA’s competitors, Victoria Reister and Kerri Muniz placed 1st at states, also qualifying them for nationals.
Cornelison and Sanders both graduated in 2024, and Roberts in 2023 but Victoria and Kerri both plan to continue their experience competing in FCCLA under Kimberlee Weber’s leadership.
