Every year around the Christmas holiday, you receive pamphlets from organizations seeking donations to benefit families who can’t afford certain necessities. One major organization that needs to be recognized is Heifer International. They work to help families all around the world who are in poverty by donating animals so that people can build up from where they are.
There are many ways that people can donate to Heifers. You can donate through the internet or the mailed programs.
The first and easiest way to donate is just by giving money. There are designated amounts or there is a line where you can enter how much you want to donate. There is also the option to donate one time, or you can set it to donate monthly.
But Heifers is so dedicated to getting the donations, they want to show you what your money can do for people. There are options to buy goats, cows, sheep, chickens etc. They show the happy families smiling and holding the animals that may save their lives.
One man in South Korea shares his happy story with a representative from Heifers saying. He says, “Because Heifer, through volunteers Kim and Seo, passed on knowledge and techniques, I was able to multiply two heifers into 100 milking cows. I keep the men’s portraits in my room, hanging on the wall, so that I won’t forget my gratitude.”
The positive effects don’t just stop at those who are receiving the gifts from Heifers, but those who donate reap many benefits as well.
Cleveland Clinic says that “generosity can boost your health and happiness…” Those who donate their time and money are proven to feel better about themselves. It seems that people have begun to realize this because there is a steady upward trend in donations each year. By the end of 2022, Heifer International had received $159,259,239, an increase from the prior year 2021 when they gained $134,800,000. They are still gaining traction yearly as more people donate to their cause.
During this Christmas season, Heifers has a deal going. They will quadruple all donations. If someone were to donate a box of honey bees, Heifers would donate that box, but there would also be four more. They are striving to make the biggest difference possible this season, and they need all hands on deck.
