How often do people go to the last day of school and think, “It’s a perfect day to have finals today!” No one. No one has ever thought that having finals on the last days of school would be a good idea. I get it, these things need to happen to make sure that people can pass up to the next grade but still why would you make it the last day of school and not a week before? This is a bad idea because there is no motivation from a lot of the students and that means that a lot of people will make it a point to not try in the end and that could result in a lot of fails. Another thing, What would we possibly need to learn about until the very last day of school?
There are very few classes that have finals a week before school ends, but that’s because there are more than one part to them that requires more than one day or the AP classes that have a lot of students that have to get through the whole process of going to a cold classroom and sit for a few hours with 60 multiple choice questions and 1-3 essay questions, with a 10 minute break in the middle and nothing else. A lot of students don’t like the fact that they have to sit down for that long without breaks longer than 10 minutes and no speaking. Me personally, I cannot focus in complete silence, I have to have music or people talking to focus better.
There are students that are used to it since they have been in high school longer, but they don’t like it. I can guarantee that for a fact because what upperclassmen thinks that finals are the best thing to have happened in their lives? It would be closer to a car for their birthday being the best thing in their lives. I think that testing is not what we would think about and I don’t think that we should keep that on. If you don’t want to test on the last day of school, tell your teachers and give them the reasons as to why it’s a bad idea.
