On Friday, January 4, five teenage girls, entered an Escape Room in Poland and never returned.

The Escape Room is a game in which players are locked in a room and have to find clues while racing against a timeclock in hopes to unlock the room before time runs out. The Poland Escape Room accidentally caught fire, trapping the five girls inside the room.

The Fire Chief said that the electrical wiring was too close to flammable materials which may have played a part in the tragedy.

People are now calling for more safety measures like fire exits, planned evacuation routes and to undergo strict fire and safety inspections to prevent future accidents. They have also made a note that employees need to monitor each room and unlock them in the event of an emergency.

The incident is still under investigation to see exactly how the fire started, however, a 28-year-old man has been charged with the girls’ untimely deaths.
