The Perfect Holiday Gifts!

As the holidays are just around the corner, so is the desperate urge for everyone around the world to buy gifts for their loved ones. However, for some, it might be very difficult to find the perfect gift to give. Everyone is so unique with their likes and dislikes, so the anxiety surrounding getting the ideal present may be overwhelming for some. Hopefully, with the help of some of these ideas, it may be easier on that dreaded shopping gift.

The simplest way to get some gift ideas for that person is to just ask them! However… people can be stubborn and say things like, “You don’t need to get me anything!” or “I would love anything you’d get me!” These statements are not helpful whatsoever, because it’s obvious this person deserves a present. Not to mention by saying they’d love anything, it just causes more stress because it doesn’t narrow down the options. To accommodate this, you could always go down the gift card route. It’s simple, it’s not too much, and at the end of the day, they get to choose what they like best! But, if you’re a person who likes to be personal with gifts, you could always accommodate it with a personalized holiday card. Something with a cute message and some doodles may mean a lot to someone!

With the information from an Instagram poll, a large majority of my followers (82%) liked to receive a homemade gift. It seems as though people like to really give gifts that will mean the most to people, and something they’ll cherish for longer than just Christmas day. Following the poll, I then asked my followers what they believed were the best gifts to receive/give to someone.

Noelle Schermerhorn stated, “In all honesty, I appreciate the little things. It could be a friend taking me to lunch or something small that they thought of me.”

Even some of the smallest things like a nick knack or a stuffed animal can mean so much to someone. As long as you think about them while you buy/make it, that’s all that should matter. People will most likely be grateful for anything they get because humans can be incredibly humble.

Another idea from Rose Perry claimed, “Books in a genre they like, candles that smell nice, their favorite snack, anything cozy!”

Those were some great examples of just simple gifts that can have a lot of meaning behind them. Books are a great way for someone to spend their time and a great escape from the reality of 2020. Especially if you know if they’re a reader. Knowing someone’s preference for what they like can really tell them that you listen and care about what they like. Or maybe even offer to watch a movie trilogy they really enjoy! Engaging in someone else’s interests can make that person feel appreciated that loved.

Even it may sound weird, a specific smell can bring up a lot of good memories of this person, and a candle is a great symbol of your appreciation for your memories of them. Not to mention everyone likes a nice treat!

Of course, by asking this open-ended question on Instagram, I got some more “humorous” answers.

“Human fecal matter,” said Rylie Cupp, giving her wisdom on her idea of a great gift to give.

Under any circumstance, please never give someone that… please never do that.

On a more serious note, Christmas is about showing your appreciation for another person. No matter how small or how great it may be, the meaning behind that gift is what is most cherished. If you’re out shopping, and you immediately think of this person, that is fate telling you they’d love it! It might be silly at first, but as long as it has the love behind it, that’s all that should matter. Happy Holidays!
