Death of Betty White

99 years and 348 days of life have come to an end on December 31st this year. Just seventeen days before this iconic celebrity’s 100th birthday, Betty White passed away. Betty White was an American actress and comedian, known for her appearance in “The Golden Girls”, “The Proposal”, “The Lorax”, “Toy story 4”, “Hercules”, and many more. According to ABC57, White received seven Emmy awards, three American Comedy awards, three Screen Actor Guild awards, and a Grammy. Not only was she a well known actress, but she has written or co-written 32 books. Due to the tremendous mark she has left on Americans through her huge role in the film industry, a large amount of shock and sadness swept over people on new years eve this year.

Betty White, had a very accomplished life and a long line of awards and accomplishments awarded to her name. Betty White was a Guiness World Record holder. According to Mentalfloss.com, in the 2014 edition of the Guiness World Record book, White was awarded a record for the longest TV career for a female entertainer, as White had been in the show business for 70 long years. Betty White’s first TV show appearance is also lost to history, as she could not even remember the first experimental show she premiered on back in 1939. White was also the oldest person with an Emmy nomination, a truly astonishing accomplishment. 

Although this death was a depressing part of the new year, Americans should take a moment to be thankful and appreciate the imprint that Betty White has left on the entertainment industry and acknowledge her successes throughout her career.
